SATURDAY’S PLAY PENNANT COMPETITION The pennant competitions were continued on Saturday on the Kahutia, Gisborne and Poverty Bay bowling greens, resulting in six wins for Kahutia, live, for Gisborne and four for Poverty Bay. So far in the competition Kahutia leads with 21 wins, while Gisborne has 13 and Poverty Bay .11 wins to their credit.
KAHUTIA CLUB In spite of having two teams visiting Wairoa for the opening of the Wairoa Bowling Club’s green, Kahutia fielded 10 teams in the pennant- series on Saturday afternoon. As the result of play on the Kahutia green, Gisborne and Kahutia clubs secured two wins each in the pennant competition, while Poverty Bay had one win. Results:—

Entries for the champion singles and champion pairs closed on Saturday, and the following players have nominated. The draw for the first round will be announced shortly:— Champion singles.—Watt, 11. POVERTY BAY CLUB Both of the greens at the Poverty Bay Bowling Club were necessary last Saturday to accommodate the big field of bowlers, and although rain interfered with play late in the afternoon, there was not sufficient to damp tho enthusiasm of the crowd. The greens played much more truly than has been the case recently, and are now responding to the generous treatment given them. In the Pennants’ competition Poverty Bay had three wins, Kahutia two, and Gisborne none. • Play resulted as follow's : Pennant Games — Poverty Bay: T. Hall, Leech, Smith, Falconer (s) 14, v.
