LAWN TENNIS
MAR IST CLUB OPENING’ The official opening of the Marist Lawn Tennis Club was bold on Saturday, when there was a good attendance of members and visitors. Jn the sunshine of the; early afternoon, the courts were looking particularly attractive, and the many improvements effected both on the courts themselves and to tin* pavilion and approaches evoked much favorable comment.
The Rev. Father Rogers, in extending a welcome to the visitors, -made reference to the club’s progress and declared the courts open lor play.
Trophies for last seasons competitions were presented as follows Men’s handicap singles, .1. Burch ; ladies’ handicap singles, .Miss Ingram; combined handicap doubles, Miss V. Owen, and E. O’Hallorun?
Afternoon lea was dispensed by ladies of the committee, and mixed doubles play was enjoyed by all until a late afternoon shower curtailed further play.
