Fears of tho international situation are the chief cause of a sharp downward trend on. the Stock Exchange embracing every section of stocks, principally gut-edged. Commonwealth stocks declined up to 2]. A New York message says that- heretofore there has been comparative calmness, but. war fear gripped tho securities market, to-day and, in heavy selling, stocks and speculative bonds lost- from one to four points. Grains and other commodities were erratic. 'Hiere was heavy selling of Italian Government- and industrial bonds.
