MANUTAHI SCHOOL j CONCERT (Ilcrahl Correspoiulcmt.) | One of tile most entertaining concerts yet held at Kuatoria was given by tho Manutalii School children at the Gaiety Theatre on Friday evening and notwithstanding tiie bitterly cold weather there was a large attendance of parents and friends. The varied programme ranging i from the graceful poi dance, the Swedish , schottischo to a moro martial air of tho jhaka, was very much appreciated; in fact, all the items from the opening 'chorus to the ‘"Laying of the Ghost” | were capably rendered by the performers.
The infants in recitations, songs, dance and particularly in tile play '"Rumplestiltskin” including the “Seiienger’s Round” showed remarkable skill and talent. The poi dances, both long and short, and particularly the one depicting the landing of the canoe, were artistically rendered by tho girls. Budding warriors gave a good performance of the war dances, one of which was given in English. The huntsmen with ‘Thar Lap’ and a tail-less horse caused much amusement and at the end of the entertainment, people who attended expressed their wish for a- repetition of tiie concert in tlie near future. Much of the success of the function was due to the untiring efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Meffan, who were responsible for the tuition and direction of pupils in their parts, and also of the assistance rendered by members of the Manutalii School Committee. At the conclusion of tho entertainment, a sale took place of cakes and other goods, and the funds of the .School Committee were considerably augmented.
