NERVOUS TENSION
NEW GERMAN MEASURES EXTENSION OF BANS GENERAL GAOL THREAT (Eire. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Julv 27, 3 p.m.) LONDON. July 20. The Daily Telegraph’s Berlin correspondent says Ilmt Following similar bans elsewhere in Germany, the Nazi authorities have dissolved the Fast Prussian Stalilhohner.s and confiscated their property. The secret police have also proscribed, on pain of imprisonment, the wearing of uniforms or badges and church youth associations’ indulgence in sports, organised marching, and other group activities. The leader of the Hitler Youth, Herr Franconia, demanded that Jews should lie banned from hostels, adding that: Germans cannot be asked to sleep under the same root's as aliens.
The nervous tension that these and similar measures are causing is revealed by a statement by the Leipzig police warning persons against disseminating rumors that, a prominent Nazi had been arrested. The aitfliorities are also worried at the rapid rise in the cost of living. Numerous butchers have been arrested for pYoliteering, run] other traders have been warned that .price-raising will lead to imprisonment.
