For some time putt, the formation ol ;j Now Zealand Ail’ Force Band lias been under consideration and certain persons Jm.vc been working to have sneli a hand established. 'Mr. I'. U. A. llislop (Mayor of Wellington) was appointed trustee of the funds ,which were raised bv living displays and oilier methods. The funds have , bow reached £1.55 and Mr. llislop wrote 'to the Minister of Defence regarding the formation of (lie band. The lion. J. CD Cubbe. in reply, stated tlfu.t the band would be approved on its formation and suggested that the funds in hand should be paid over to trustees to be appointed by tile band. "I may state,” continued the Minister, “that approved regimental bauds are granted an. annual subsidy of £SO, which is paid by The Defence Department into the hank accounts of the hands and applied, as a rule, towards the remuneration of bandmasters. Payment is, of course, subject in each ease lo the bund satisfying those responsible that it is (.Ifieient- ami.Jr complying with the departmental regulations. ’ ’
