CHILLED BEEF CLASS
POVERTY BAY SHOW Ti 1R Eld - V EAR BULLOCKS Arrangements arc being made by the Poverty Ray A. and I’. Association to stage a chilled beef class for a o-ycar bullock at the Show ;in October. Gisborne, is not yet able to participate iu the. chilled beef industry ill view of tin- open roadstead loading, but Hie inclusion of a class at the Show is a move to prepare for the day when chilled exports from Gisborne will be possible. The schedule committee submitted the following recommendation for approval: "That the following class bo approved : Bullock suitable for chilled beef, born since July 1, 1932, not to exceed SOOlbs. in the opinion of the judge, any recognised beef breed or beef breed cross, the breed to be stated on the entry form and whether polled or horned. ' In describing crossbred exhibits the sire must be stated first, i.e., Hereford x Aberdeen-Angus, where the sire is Hereford and dam AberdeenAngus. Exhibits must bn fed under natural conditions, the feed being conlined to grass, hay, ensilage, and‘Toots; stall feeding with grain is not. allowed. The exhibits will he judged on the hoof and again when dfossed, and prizes awarded for each judging. Cups, to be won three times, will be. provided for the first prize award on each judging, and the conditions of the competition may be varied from time to time, the question of cash prizes and entry .fee to bo referred to the gonertil committee.” The recommendation was adopted.
