j EXCELLENT SUPPORT ACCEPTORS FOR THURSDAY Owners of racing stock in training in this unci adjoining districts have given most satisfactory support to the. Poverty Bay Turf Club, so far as the acceptances for the first day’s events at the Steeplechase meeting on Thursday next are concerned. Good-sized fields appear to be assured for practically every event on the card, and among those accepted for are the great majority of the visiting horses nominated for the meeting. An Ellerslie winner in Cromwell has been accepted for .in the. hurdles race, and Tahoma is another that has won in Hawke's Bay, the possible field for the event being nine. The, six-furlong race for hacks will have up to a dozen runners, and the same number have been accepted for in respect of the maiden race. In the steeplechase event, the principal attraction of the day, seven names have been left in, and the Winter Oats and the Publicans’ Purse have drawn six and five respectively, but for the final race of the day, the Tramway Hack race, there are 13 possible' runners, these including Collision, who won on the first, and second days at Treiitharn. Even allowing for overlapping of engagements, the club has a good prospect of getting good fields out for Thursday next, the full list of acceptances for the first day being as under: Park Hurdles, 1-J miles.—Million 10.5, Tahoma 9.13, Cromwell 9.5, Victor Colima 9.5, Royal Toast, Hunting Lass, John Charles, Starfinder, Isms 9.0.
