‘ Auckland.—July 19: Arrived, Acl•bryn, 4.10 1 miff., from Texas. Dr. A. S. Moody, of Dunedin, who has returned, from a four of England and the Continent, has brought back with him three sheep-dogs for hiskfarm in Central Otago. These he bought after the sheep dog trials in Wales. One was bred from an international sheep clog trial winner and another won first prize i at the Welsh trials a week before leaving England. At a meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Competitions Society Jast evening Mr. Mainland Foster presided over a good attendance of members. It was decided to include an additional class in the schedule for tap dancing, under 9, the prizes for which have been donated to the-society. An extension, until next Friday, of the dosing date of entries for the coming, festival, was agreed upon. It was reported that although some entries had been received it was expected that the great majority would be sent in during the next week. The committee also decided to meet every week until the festival. A new departure on the part of East Coist Airways is to be tried on Sunday, when the two Do Havilland Dragon planes will he placed at the disposal of tbii public for . tho purpose of sightseeing tours each of an hour’s duratioii. It is intended that the planes • gKould fly south-west towards Waikarcmoana, and if the day is a good one those who take advantage of the outing should see Mahia peninsula, Wairoa, Wdikajemoand, Waikarc-Iti, and the mountains. T’ongariro and Ruapehu, with maiiy of the lesser peaks. Applications for seats are being received already, and as the fare is based on the same scale as that between Gisborne and Napier for ordinary schedule running, the oppoitUmTy should appeal to a large numoer of Gisborne residents.
