In the Central Police Court yesterday, a girl. 16 years and 3 months of age, who was the mother of a baby 14 months of ago, pleaded guilty to obtaining 13s od worth of groceries by false pretences, and to stealing a childhood endowment cheque valued at 17s. j Constable N. L. Hind said that the ■ girl’s husband was 23 years of age. The ■ ''aso had been taken to the Children’s Court, but as the girl was a married woman, the magistrate had hold that she did not come under the jurisdiction of the Child Welfare Court. The girl had lived at the address to which the (■cheque had been posted, and had suojcumhed to temptation, j The girl was ordered to he of good behaviour for 12 months, and to pay £1 13s i3d compensation, at the rate of 5s a | week,.
