DROVING OF STOCK
(To the Editor of the Herald.) Sir.—l understand there is a movement to make a variation of the by-inw at present controlling the droving ot stock through the borough. I also understand a few of our country friends object to one of the borough’s bridges, (rnfortunatelv it costs money to alter bridges god I suggest that the counties whose ratepayers have occasion to transfer stock through the borough should contribute the required finance to make the offending bridge suitable lor their requirements. Whilst on this mutter is it correct that stock may be driven any time, day or night, through the borough? fs not the law that stock is not to be driven on public roads or streets between sunset and sunrise? Some drovers could minimise considerably the amount of noise they evidently deem necessarv to move stock. I understand our traffic inspector has had practical experience with stock, so be should he able to control this if given the nrees snrv. support Yours etc, PAYER OF RATES
