UN AR MED POLICE HA IN, GUARD LONDON, May .TO. One million pounds’ worth of gold, which had lain in, the strong-room of Croydon airdrome all .night guarded by a .single unarmed policeman, was taken, to London yesterday under armed guard. The gold was part: of a heavy shipment received from Paris on Tuesday. Another half-million pounds in gold bars arrived yesterday in four air .shipments. The bars were Unloaded like ordinary goods. No guard was in attendance. A single shipping clerk checked the gold on to a trolly. One of the boxes had split in transit:. The -sawdust, in which (lie gold Was packed, had fallen out. and a gold bar could be seen-.
