BOURNEMOUTH, May 27. Thirty-live thousand pigeons worth £40,000 won- released at Bournemouth Central Station to-day, and began a f>o-rnile-an-hour rare Jo tlu- north. The pigeons were brought to Bournemouth in .'to special railway conches from Lancashire, Westmorland. Derbyshire and Nottingham. They remained in. captivity tit the station for four days. Pigeon clubs staked hundreds of •pounds on the race. This week most of the birds faking part to-day will be sent to the Channel Islands for ti still longer race.
