IMPERIAL AIRWAYS FLEET 66 -HE ATE I? MAG ITINES (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United. Press Assn.) (Received July 13- 2 p.rn.) LONDON, July 12. Eight 66-seater monoplanes have been ordered by Imperial Airways as the first batch ol' a new fleet from Armstrong Whitworth’s, says the Daily -Mail s aeronautical correspondent. The liners will develop 3600 horse power from four engines, and will travel at nearly 200 miles an hour. They will carry 'SO pftssengers on t)tc Australian and African routes, and will permit ol a longer range. The accommodation comprises a lounge, kitchen, bar. baggage room, and smoko l'oohi, smoking being permitted for the first time by Imperial Airways. The Daily Telegraph says that an air service to Darwin in IDS hours by seaplanes flying day and night, and also services to the Cape, to Argentine, and to New York are being discussed with shipping and hanking interests by Mrs M. C. Tate, Al.land Mr Winifiold Smith. Mrs Tate says using the existing harbors ami meteorological and radio facilities the services could operate without, a. subsidy, the machines carrying from 30 to 40. passengers at. a speed of .100 miles :in hour.
