WATMATA MEETING The meeting of the AVaimata Valley Women’s Institute was hold m the ball on July 11. There was a small attendance owing to the wet. weather. Mrs. L. Newman, the president, took the chair, and the institute song opened tiie meettug. Mrs. Barber presented the proposed schedule made out by. the flower show committee, which was discussed and a few alterations made. The dance was postponed indefinitely as most of the members would be unable to attend. Owing to misfortune, Mrs. 11. Allan, who was to give a glove-making demonstration. was unable to come, so .Mr.. Kirkpatrick gave a very interesting talk on the Salvation Army. The competitions resulted : —Cooking, kisses.—-Airs. Greaves. 1; .Miss M. Jones, 2; .Mrs. Quinn, 3. Knitting, jersey.— Mrs. Greaves. 1; Airs. Quinn, 2: Mrs. M.'izeiigarb, 3.

The singing of ihe National Ant hem closed the meeting.
