WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETS (HeratJ ’Correspondent.) Despite the adverse weather on. Wednesday, there was. a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Nuhaka Women’s Institute. The president, Mrs .1. K. Stewart, occupied the chair, and moved a motion of sympathy with Mrs C. Sturm, and Mrs O. 15. Steele in their recent- sad bereavement. A pleasing feature was the attendance of. a number of members from the Opoutama Women’s Institute who were the guests of the afternoon. The roll call, sing, say, or penny pay. was well responded to, and very amusing. • A demonstration of pewter work bv Mrs O. T 5. Steele and a lecture on photog’rapbv bv Mr F. T. Woodley were very interesting and greatly appreciated by 'all members. ~ 'The competitions. resulted u—Best snapshot: —Mrs C. Sturm, .1; Mrs F. llickling, 2: Mrs J. 'Millar, 3. Members interested in the gardening circle, are to attend a special meeting to,bo held at the mission station on Julv 20. A delicious afternoon tea was dispensed by the members. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close. Mr P. J. Brewster, chairman of the Wairoa Hospital. Board, who recently underwent an operation at. that, institution. lias now sufficiently .recovered to enable him- to -'"proceed to his home at Tdhnnui. ,Y d : The rainfall for Jurie /was,; 8;13in., with an overflow on dune 3, ■ . 4.2-lin being the total for the' corresponding montli of 1934.
