A cure for pneumonia in pigs is reported by a Hnuraki Plains farmer, who, as a result- of his pigs being stricken with the contagious disease so that 20 of them died, made investigations and learned that a contributory cause was a deficiency of iodine. Accord-in-dv be prepared a mixture of cattle iodine, lime and ground charcoal and added it to the milk ration with successful results. Letters of thank! to Mr. K. J. Bell, librarian at the Canterbury Pubic Library, have- been arriving at bis office for several days from important American libraries. ’ When bo returned from a holiday in America, Mr. Bell suggested to (he Department- of Industries 'and Commerce that literature about New Zealand should be sent to various American libraries; t his the department has apparently done with thoroughness, and Mr. 801 l has already ’•'vcived several acknowledgments. Letters he has received include those from two libraries in Los Angeles, from Oakland- Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati, and one from the Fpk Film, Corpora lion. They state that there is a meagre supply of information about- New Zealand in America, and that-tho literature they have received will be of great value. Wet day pr dry day.
