WORST ENGLISH RAILWAY DISASTER FOR Y EARS.—A view of the wreckage after the worst train smash in the history of the London and North-Eastern Railway, which occurred at Welwyn Garden City Station shortly before midnight on June 15. An express train from King’s Cross, laden chiefly with Sunday newspapers, crashed into a Newcastle-bound express, which was standing at the station. The parcels train telescoped the rear carriages of the express, 15 persons being killed and 40 injured, many seriously.
