The Coneilation Council proceedings which have been held during the .past two-days in the Dominion furniture trades dispute were adjourned until i August 6 to allow the workers’ representatives to place-the employers’ offer before their members. The following mattcrS were agreed r upon: Hours of work, termination of employment, ” classes of workers employed under the award, under-rate workers’ clause, preference clause, general conditions, piece-work provisions, and the scape of the award. ’ The 'final offer of the employers in the matters under dispute was 'as follows; 12s an hour for * journeymen cabinetmakers, casket makers, upholsterers, . chair and frame makers, ■ machinists, wood carvers, turners, and polishers; Is HHd an hour for wire mattress makers and picture framers. It was agreed that the rate of wages to be paid to workers over the age of .21 years performing unskilled work in or about a factory or yard should be • Is B}d. For females employed in •weaving wire mattresses, the following . rates were offered: 13s fid for the first six months, 17s 6d for the second six months, £1 2s fid for the second year, £1 10s for the third year, and £1 17s 61 for the fourth year, and £2,7s fid there- :> after.
