MEAT NEGOTIATIONS
SETTLEMENT PROSPECTS CONSIDERED BRIGHTER (Por Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last- night. The .prospects of a settlement of the meat, negotiations are stated to be brighter as the result of confidential cablegrams received by tin* Government from the lit. Hon. J.’G. Coates. Sir Alfred Ransom stated that he could not disclose the information forwarded by Mr Coates, but the whole matter was considered to-day by the Cabinet, the Executive Commission of Agriculture, and the Dairy Board. The Acting-Prime Alinister added that tins reply to Air Coates's cable would be forwarded later to-day and until the New Zealand delegation considered this reply, it would not be possible (o make' public the nature of (he possible agreement.
