SALESMAN'S OFFENCE A CHANGE OF NAME (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this«iay. William Frank Lionel George Brown, 37, a salesman, admitted bigamy in the Magistrate's Court to-day, and also pleaded guilty to making a false 'declaration for the purpose of securing-a registrar's certificate. His wife gave evidence that they were married at Onehunga in September, 1920, there being three children. The accused deserted her in 1926. and she secured a guardianship and maintenance order. Eer first knowledge of the second marriage was when the police informed her. The other lady in the case said she met the accused in June last in New Plymouth, when he said that his name was Gray and that he had been divorced for many years. She married him in Palmerston North in November, 1934. A clerk in the registrar's office stated that Brown gave the name of Gray, declaring himself to be'a bachelor. The. accused was sent to the Supremo Court .for sentence.
