GUARANTEE CORPORATION INTERIM DIVIDEND The New Zealand Guarantee Corporation has advised the Stock Exchange Association that at a meeting of directors it was decided to pay an interim dividend of IJd per share for the half-year ended February 28, 1930. Transfer'books closed on March 20 and the date of payment of dividend will be announced 'about the end of this month. Last year the company paid an interim dividend of 2d per share and a final dividend at the same rate,' the distribution for the whole year being at the rate of 11 1-9 per cent. Since the reduction of capital the company s shares are :'.s fully paid. IMPERIAL TOBACCO CO DIVIDEND AND EONUti A final dividend of 7?. per cent and a lionus of 7!, per cent, both free of tax, have been declared by the Imperial Tobacco Company of (treat Britain and Ireland. As'the interim dividend was 7.'. por cent, the company's total distribution for the year ended October 31 was 22J per cent, tax free. 'Phis is 2J per cent larger than the rate paid for 19H2-33, and means an additional payment to shareholders id' £937,000. It has to be remembered, however, thill in order to pay 20 per cent a year ago the board drew en previously accumulated resources to the extent of £757,000, and as it is this time increasing the carry forward by £300,000 to £1,139,000, there was apparently an addition to profits last year of nearly £2,000,000, which would raise their total to about £9,000,000, the highest figure reached since 1930-31. "While in the early months of ihe past financial year the company's revenues continued' to lie influenced by the system of coupon trading prevailing in the tobacco trade, it is understood that subsequently, with Ihe abolition of this system, a ' substantial growth took place in sales.
