HIGH PROFITS
ELECTRIC POWER REVENUE
Strong criticism of the high profits made by the Hamilton Borough Council out of electricity were voiced at a meeting of the Frankton Ratepayers' Association. Mr B. 11. Andrews opposed the utilisation of profits, which amounted to £II,OOO annually, on footpath construction and other works. Arapuni, with all its troubles, was still producing electricity cheaper than any other plant in Ne\v Zealand. "The electricity consumer," said Mr Andrews, "is the cow which is being milked to supply finance for every borough undertaking." A resolution asking the council to reduce its charges was carried.
