The timber mills at Te Kniti are exceptionally busy, owing to an increased export trade to Britain and Australia. A minor plague'of rats anil mice hns been noticed by some M>atamntn residents this autumn. ft is saiC that the early appearance of the rats is a sign of a hard winter.
