LOSS OF THE MACON
OFFICERS RVTDFATK HAN FRANCISCO,. Feb. i I. Licutennnt-Wommnander Wiley, giving evidence before the Court of Inquiry into the loss of the Macon, said that when passing through ft muss of clouds there Was considerable turbulence, causing the nir.ship to drop from the 2700 ft. level to the 1700 ft. level. It wtfs whom he gave the order "Left rudder" that'the first vibration traversed the airship, followed by the crrfsh. He explained that the greatest strain put .on the airship as the result of this order would he just forward of the gas cells which collapsed.
