CELTIC CLUB LARGE ATTENDANCE SUCCESSFUL MEETING The annual general meeting ol the Celtic Football Club was held last evening), with art attendance of about 40 members, presided over by Mr. E. T. Brosnahan. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, recently published, the chairman mentioned that although there was only a. small balance shown, this compared favorably with previous years. In this connection, he said that the incoming committee should make it their aim to,build up their reserves, in order to meet unforeseen contingencies, which, fortunately, were lacking last season.

Mr. Brosnahan commented upon the fact that for the second year in succession, the seniors had been successful in thair competition, while the juniors, runners-up in their section, had also done credit to their club. Without further discussion, the report and balance sheet were passed. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted'as follows—i’atron, Rev. Kennedy and G. Murland; committee, Messrs. A. Milligan, 0. t arter, E. T. Brosnahan, V. Norman, G. Murland, and F. Bignell; lion secretary, Air. G. Hewson; lion, treasurer. Mr. A. H. Father Murphy, the former patron, is now absent from the district, the nomination of the' R(‘v Father Rodgers to this position was carried unanimously. Air. Brosnahan referred with regret to the resignation of the captain of the senior team, Mr. G. Alui'land, from active football and in view of his untiring elforts in the interests of the chili, both in connection with iiiis.ng tin,•nice, and the help given to the junior and third grade members. It was resolved to send a senior team to Napier this season, and a tour for one of the minor grades, probably the thirds, is also under consideration.

Air. A. 11. Airey suggested that in an endeavor •to lighten the burden, the insurance only would be asked of members at the beginning of the season, the subscriptions to be payable at a later date. THE SENIOR TEAM The chairman stressed the importance of promoting junior players into senior ranks. He contended that with such a pack of forwards the time was opportune to till gaps in the back division with promising juniors, and that they should do this with juniors in preference to calling on new senior members. Behind such a pack, he pointed out, they would gain confidence, and within a year would he valuable players. He mentioned further that although the senior "division was strong this year, four or live vacancies would he probable in the next year or two, and it would be then that the club would require them. The meeting resolved that the fill tire policy of the club, in the selection of (lie senior team, should be that all available competent juniors are to be. played, before any other man is considered. Brief discussion look place on the question of Saturday as the universal half-holiday, and a motion was passed that the meeting strongly approved of the suggestion of a general half-holiday, and pledged itself to support this project.
