CRICKET MANAGEMENT
P.B. ASSOCIATION IMPROVEMENT IN GROUND THIS WEEK’S DRAW The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last evening. Tlie chairman, Mr. 11. E. Maude, presided,' and there wore present also Messrs. V. C. R. Mitford, J. J. Macdonald, C. G. Fraser, A. IL Baker, G. N. Lockett, A. Biginall, R. Connop, and W. J. Jennings, hon. secretary. The ground committee reported that, tlie ground had improved greatly as a result of the recent rains, a good growth of grass having resulted. Mr. Lockett reported that it had been necessary to postpone the Kirk Cap m.atc|i between Waiapu and Poverty Bay at the Oval yesterday and to-day, owing to the inability of the Coast association to field a team. In connection with the proposed Hawke’s Bay v. Poverty Bay representative fixture, it was resolved to notify the Ha'wkq’s Bay association that Poverty Bay would be unable to field a strong representative eleven until Easter, owing to the difficulty of obtaining leave for tlie players. 1 - The draw for this week resulted as follows Thursday.—R.S.A. v. Wanderers, Cash Stores v. Retailers. Saturday first grade.—Completion of ■.eventh series of matches. Saturday second grade.—Marist v. High School A, Unemployed v. High School B; both matches at the High School. Saturday third grade.—High School A v. High School B, at the High School ; Marist, a bye.
