Mr. W. 11. Turner, formerly country sub-editor of the Wellington Dominion, has joined the literary staff of the Sydney Sun. Mr. (5. C. Glifton, who lias been manager of the Gisborne branch of the Texaco Oil Company for some time, leaves Gisborne about the; end of this month on transfer to Auckland. Sir ‘Hugh R. Denison. Jv.IJ.E., of Sydney, will arrive in Wellington to-day by'the Rangitiki.from England, lie will be tendered a luncheon by members c.f tlie Royal Empire Society, of which be is a vice-president. Major J. Nelson, of the Salvation Army, together with Mrs. Nelson, was tendered a public function in the Army Citadel, Dunedin. Major Nelson lias received: promotion and transfer to Wellington, where he will hold the post of divisional commander.
