BRAZIL WOUD BARTER
LAUD LOU. WARSHIPS RIO DR JANEIRO, Dee. 17. A proposal to barter lard, cotton and sugar for battleships was made 10-duy by Brazil's Naval ‘ Minister. Admiral Guimarcs told the Associated Press to-dav that the 1935 naval budget of 200,000 centos of reis (about £3,080,000) will enable continuation of the naval renewal programme, including the replacement of obsolete ships, to whie.li 40,000 centos will be devoted.
“Wo are ready to barter,", the Marine .Minister said, “with England, Italy, Holland and perhaps da pan, offering our cotton, lard, sugar und other products excepting coffee for their submarines, submarine chasers, destroyers, auxiliary vessels and tank ships.
