The position ns far as the Gore water supply is concerned is regarded ns serious by the authorities. Continued dry weather lias seen a gradual lowering of the reservoir level. A conference of representatives of the Bav of Plenty Rod and Gun Clubs was hold at Taneatna to consider a proposal to secede from the Rotorua district and form an independent Bay of Plenty acclimatisation society. Mr. W. H. Scrnmons, chairman of the Whakatane club, occupied the chair, and explained the objects of the meeting. A resolution was carried in favor of stops being, taken for the promotion of an acclimatisation society embracing the counties of Whakatane and Opotiki and with the ultimate object of approaching Taurnnga to amalgamate with both societies. The resolution is to be submitted to the ' clubs for confirmation. ■
