McGrath (Southland), 2; A. Somervell (Wellington), 3. Also started : Ik Thomas (Auckland). Won by syds., and 2ft. Time, 55 3-5. Somervell would have been second had lie not fouled the lane line, thus missing qualifying, thirds being excluded. 220yds. Ladies: First heat, Miss S. Grange (Auckland), 1; Miss M.
