THE WEATHER To-day’s North Island Report. Overcast and unsettled weather was general in the North Island this morning. Light to fresh southerly breezes were accompanied by a general fall in temperatures. The barometer had commoner 1 a -rising' movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland 74 degrees. Taura.uga 63, Opotiki 69, Gisborne 67,, Napier 61. and Rough seas were rejid.ited around Cook StraTi and at Gisborne and Tunranga ; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast

A modoralo depression is centred north-west of tho North Island. Burouietor.s are rising slightly over tho South Island. Winds moclerato northeasi to north in the northern portion ot (ho North Island; elsewhere south to south-east, becoming strong in parts of the Cook Strait area; elsewhere light to fresh. Seas rough in the Cook Strait area, rather rough on parts ul the East Coast ; elsewhere smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasman moderate to fresh south-easterly; moderate to rather rough seas. Weather fine in the western" districts of the Smith Island: elsewhere cloudy and overcast : fairly general rain over the northern half of .the North Island, scattered mainly light to moderate falls over the remainder of the North Island and the eastern districts of the South Island.
