AUCKLAND, this day. The well-known champion cyclist, L. G. Lukey, who left Wellington on Saturday on an attempted record-breaking
ride to Auckland and . back, lias made unexpectedly good progress. lie reached Auckland shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday and immediately set out on the return trip.
Rifles and Southland Hussars. He entered the Police Force in 1895, and served through most departments, being appointed commissioner in 19 0. He served as Commissioner of Police in Samoa from November, 1920, to February. 1922.
MR. MALCOLM FRASER In 1932 Mr. Malcolm Fraser, then Government Statistician, was appointed Under-Secretary of Internal Allairs, in recognition of a career of distinction in the Public. Services of the Dominion. Starting in the Lands and Income Department in 1893, Mr. Fraser served in various capacities in that department until 1900, when he was appointed accountant of the public service superannuation fund. His appointment as Government Statistician was made in 1911. On tho passing of the Military Service Act in 1916 lie had charge of the administration of the registration system, and devised and conducted the military service ballot system. For his services in this connection lie received the 0.8. K. In the years that followed he held many important Government appointments.
