MR. D. JENNESS

DOCTOR OF LITERATURE HONORED BY UNIVERSITY {Per Press Association.) v CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The honorary degree of Doctor of Literature was conferred on Mr Diamond Jenness by the Senate of the University of New Zealand yesterday, on the recommendation of the Academic Board. Dr. Jenness was formerly a student of Victoria University College, graduating M.A. in 1908 with first-class honors m classics. He is at present chief of the anthropological section under the Cana dian Government, and in charge of tile anthropological departments of the Canadian National Museum, Ontario.

Dr. Jenness has written numerous and extensive reports on various phases of Eskimo anthropology, and in addition a well-jknown book, “Children of the Twilight,” published in 1928. He has also published and edited reports on the American aborigines. He is recognised as one of the leading anthropologists ot the present day, and his published works are evidence of his outstanding literary ability.
