CAMPBELL ISLAND

PROPOSAL TO SHEAR SHEEP EXPEDITTOX NEAREY READY

Mr. H. Brown, leader of the expedition which is about to set out for Campbell Island for the purpose of .shearing about (5000 sheep, has his vessel on the north branch of the Waimnkuriri River, where he is stepping the masts and making other adjustments.

Four men, all expert .shearers, will accompany Mr. Brown, and dogs for mustering flic sheep will be taken. One member of the expedition is an expert: wireless operator and is taking his own plant. Mr. Brown has had applications from three wireless enthusiasts iti different parts of New Zealand, anxious to join the expedition, and each has offered to provide his own plant. A certain amount of wire netting will be taken in ease the sheep yards on the island are in a state of disrepair. Mr. Brown may be aide to ship the wool from the island by the Wyatt Enrp, the Fls worth Expedition ship, provided she returns from the Antarctic, by way of Campbell Island. Failing this, he expects that He will have to charter a vessel to make the trip for the wool and at the same time bring a number of live sheep for disposal to New Zealand. The misunderstanding between Mr. Brown and the mortgagees has been cleared up and the expedition wilt leave as soon as the vessel is ready.
