SWIMMING
TO-NIGHT’S CARNIVAL With good entries for the Gisborne Swimming Club’s carnival to be held this evening at the Macruc Baths, a large attendance is anticipated, more so in view of the fact that included in the competitors will be a number of men from 11.M.5. Laburnum, now lying in the roadstead. In addition to them taking part in handicap racing, the star attraction will be when they meet I lie leading players of the Gisborne club in a water polo match. The Laburnum’s team's reputation as good water polo players has preceded it, and from all accounts it. promises to be a hard tussle between the two teams.
Apart from the water polo match, the re-winder of the programme is well worth seeing, in view of the fact, that, the club will be holding its main championship event, ol tho year, the J 00yds. men’s championship. The usual handicap racing will be on the programme, in addition to diving and relay racing. The carnival will start, at; 8 p.m.'
