L. Ward Policy and 11. It. Poulter—arrived m Sydney by the Maloja. ' Sir ' Francis Colchester-Wemyss has many hobbies, but the most interesting, lie thinks, is cooking. He has written a, book on the subject, to enlighten the English housewife. He does not look upon her as a good cook. “English women cook badly.’’ lie said. “[ think Australian and New Zealand women are natural cooks. So are the Ei'cnrh women. English cooking f$ done any old how. 1 am particularly interested in the cooking of sauces and the preparation of wines. Do not misunderstand me. 1 do not cook the meals at homo. But, 1-do like to a trout and cook it over a fire. There is nothing more noble than that in cooking. It is a triumph.” Sir Francis Colehester-Weniyss said that croquet was growing in popularity in Australia, and lie felt confident of having some interesting games.
