RESTRICTED TO SIX

VISIT TO [VICTORIA

(Per Press Association.) __ WELLINGTON. I bis day. Cable advice has been received by tlie N.Z.A.A.A. from the Victorian Athletic Association that it has been compelled to restrict, the size of the New Zealand team to six, and specifically sets out Macfarlane, Canterbury, sprinter; Broadway, Canterbury, middle distances; McLuchlan, Otago, half-mile and mile; Rharpley, Hawke’s Bay, hurdles and 100yds; Crowe, Wellington, jumper; and Wilson or Walker. No walker has been selected, and it is assumed that C. -rt. Matthews, Canterbury, distance runner, is meant, for the message adds that walking events are to be included and that the Hawke’s Bay walker, Driscoll, will be .welcome if lie. pays his own expenses. The only member of the New Zealand team selected not mentioned by The Victorian association is Brainsby, Auckland, hop, step, and long jump, and by a coincidence he lias notified the New Zealand A.A.A. that he will not be available.

The team was to have left on Thursday, but the Victorian authorities now ask that it should leave on January 17 by the Wanganella.
