GERMANY PREPARES

WARNING TO “TRAITORS”

(Received Jan. 7, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 6. Herr Neustadt Buerckel, Herr Hitler’s Saar Commissioner, announces that he has made ail preparations to assume control in the Saar by April 1. Those who had liv-ed in the Saar for the past three years and had campaigned against Germany, whether they were entitled to vote or not, would receive the Stale's protection as promised. Those who had not been in the Saar for three years and were not entitled to vote but yet had campaigned against Germany, would be regarded as traitors and would be tried for high treason if they remained in the Saar after it became German again. He added that he took it for granted that the Saar SbCialist and Communist parties and their press would be voluntarily dissolved after January 13, other, wise they would meet the same fate as in Germany.

RIVAL DEMONSTRATIONS

THOUSANDS BRAVE SNOW

(Received Jan. 7, 11.30 a.m.) SAARBRUCKFJN, June 6. Thousands braved the heavy rain and snow to attend rival demonstrations by Nazi Front supporters and United Front supporters, the latter opposing return to Germany. , . _ , . Six thousand Nazi Fronters marched to Wackenberg, where speakers urged a pro-German vote. United Fronters demonstrated nearby. 'The weather failed to damp the enthusiasm of Hitlerites, who parading 100,000 strong, compured with the United Front supporters’ 60,000. lhe Hitlerites trudged singing to band music through mud and slush ana spread themselves on the hillside under a forest of umbrellas, and listened to their leader prophesying a, plebiscite majority for Germany. They dispersed as anti-Hitlerites appeared. Ilerr Braun and other Communist leaders broadcast speeches. Their followers swore eternal hostility to lien Hitler. . . Thj behaviour of the crowds in the streets was excellent, despite occasional sarcasm. . The disorderly meeting on Decembei 30, when Imbusch was injured, led to the arrest of six Deutsch Front supporters.
