THE WEATHER • To-day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were general throughout the North Island at 9 a.m. to-day, light north-westerlies prevailing. The barometer continued its upward movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland 75. Tauranga 76, Opotiki 75. East Cape 72, Gisborne and Napier 76, and Wellington 71. Seas were rough south of Napier, but smooth to moderate elsewhere. The tide was very high at Gisborne, and good to moderate elsewhere.

Last Night’s Forecast An anticyclone is moving eastwards off New Zealand, while a deep depression is advancing from the western Tasman Sea. Winds moderate to strong north-easterly to northerly, rising to gale force in places. Seas becoming rough on the West Coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, strong northerly winds to gales, with rough seas. Weather becoming unsettled soon in the western districts, with rain setting in; elsewhere fair at first, but skies gradually clouding over, lairly general rain probable within the next two days.
