(Herald Correspondent.; During the festivities at the New Year, when the township of Tokomaru Lay .was temporarily disturbed by midnight revellers who were "first footing’ and seeing the New. Year in, a resident of Unguium lost 14 dozen eggs, which were lound next morning smashed over a stationary ear. Miss Nance Jlrodie, Te Buka, is spending a holiday in Auckland. —Mrs. Fleming, Malawai, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Squire, Tokomaru Bay.—Miss A. Gibbs, Auckland, is a guest at the Te t’uka Hotel. —-Mr. Rex Dodd, Dargaville, who spent several days as a guest at the Te l’uka Hotel during the festive season, lias returned north. —Mr. 13. Gibson, Matawai, is visiting his sister, Mrs M. J. Thacker, Tokomaru Bay.— Mr. YY. Horton, Tubua, who spent the Christinas holidays with his parents in Hastings, returned to the Coast for the Waipiro Bay tennis tournament. —Mr. and Mrs. 11. C. Bignell and their family, of Tokomaru Bay, are on a camping tour of the North Island.
Father A. J. Kingan, of St. Patrick’s College, Silverstmun, Wellington, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. G. Fivers, Makoniako, Tokomaru Bay, and has been taking part in the Waipiro Bay tennis tournament. —Miss Jean Dow, Gisborne, recently spent a few days with her sister, Mrs. 11. D. Gardner, Tokomaru Bay.—Mrs. M. E. Wilson, Tokomaru Bay, was the guest of Mrs. J. O’Neill, Aorangi, during the holidays.—Mr. and Mrs. C. Dow, Gisborne, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. 11. D. Gardner, Tokoinaru Bay. Mr. and Mrs. W. Campbell, Tokomaru Bay, have returned from a motoring tour of the Hawke’s Bay and Taranaki districts. —Mrs Crawford. Gisborne, is staying with Mrs. A. L. Walker, Tokomaru Bay.—Mr. T. V. Whittle, Tokomaru Bay, left last week for Auckland.—Mr. and Mrs. A. Berkin and two children, of Hawke’s Bay, have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. W. Oates for several days.—Mr. A. Morgan and two children, Tokomaru Bay. have been spending the festive season in Gisborne. —Mr. and Mrs. J. James and their family left Tokomaru Bay during the Christmas holiday on a motor trip in the Auckland district before making therm new homo at Midhurst, Taranaki. Miss F. Linton, Gisborne, was visitor to the Coast at the New Year w with a party of camping motorists who are en route to the Bay of Islands, via the new East Coast road to the Bay of Plenty.—Mrs. G. Jones, Tokoina'ru Bay, is visiting relatives in Rotorua.—Miss M. Carr, Gisborne, was .a guest at the Te Puka Hotel during the holidays.
Mr. H. Chaffey, Tokomaru Bay, is at present on holiday in Whangarei.—Miss M. Robertson, Tokomaru Bay, leaves shortly to spend a holiday in Opotiki.— Mrs. (3. Chaffey is still an inmate of the Waiapu Hospital and it is reported that she is recovering satisfactorily from-her illness.—Mrs. T. Morrison, Tokomaru Bay, has been tlie guest of Mrs. P. Burton, Ruatoria.
