BRITISH PACIFISTS
TRENCHANT ATTACK MR. MAC DONALD OUTSPOKEN LONDON. Dee. 2i\. The Prime Minister, -Mr Ramsay MacDonald, contributes a highly significant article to the Newsletter, National Labor's fortnightly, in which lie trenchantly attacks British pacifists, especially the Socialists. Mr MacDonald declares that the peace panic-mongers are a most formidable menace to peace. Such panic, in an armed world, may win elections, but it will certainly produce war. Defending Britain's rearmament, Mr MacDonald says thai Britain cannot remain indifferent to world conditions, leaving the way open for any hostile Power to attack London from the air, and confessing her inability to maintain the British Commonwealth and fulfil her obligations to it. Such a condition would lie too fantastic for practical consideration, and would [.cause aggressive wars. Public opinion compelled the Government to prepare defences against an aggressor. Mr MacDonald advocates the conclusion of international political agreements, simultaneously providing adequate defence equipment. N
