ANGLO-GERMAN TRADE

PAYMENT FOR IMPORTS

EXCHANG E CERTIFICATES

(British Official Wireless.)

Rec. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Jan. 3. The Anglo-German Payments Consultative Committee has agreed that in view of the substantial issues in November and December of foreign exchange certificates in respect of the imports of United Kingdom goods into Germany the total issue for payments in January and February, 1935, may be restricted to 17,000,000 reichmarks (about £1,400.000) in each month. This, is estimated ,to represent the 65 per cent, of the value of German exports to the United Kingdom for which provision was made in the agreement. Restriction will be brought into force onlv if it is justified to prevent foreign exchange required for the payment of imports from the United Kingdom exceeding the 55 per cent, allocation.
