Official Seed Testing
A i;MPO'J.'T on the operations id' the ollicial seed-testing station at Palnierston .North for the year 1933 is contained in the current .Journal of Agriculture. Out of 1315 samples of certified perennial ryegrass tested for purity and germination, the second largest total, 20fl samples, came from Poverty Pay,' Hawke's Pay contributing the most, fi5S samples. Poverty Bay samples had an average purity of' 98.4 per cent., other crop seeds representing .4 per cent., weed seeds .8 per cent., and inert matter .4 per cent. Hawke's Bay figures were 99.5, .2, .7, and .3 per cent, respectively. The average germination capacity for Poverty Bay was 96 per cent., and the average percentage of pure germinating feed was 04 per cent. The corresponding Hawke's Bay figures were 97 and 0(i per cent, respectively.
