Last week was free from infectious disease notifications from the East Capo Health. District, and no deaths were reported from such diseases. The taxi “war” continues to rngo tn Whangarei, and while the travelling public reaps the benefit, some owners, particularly of larger ears, complain that they are being forced off the road. A deputation waited upon the Whangarei Borough Council asking it to intercede and fix a minimum price. The legal and finonce committee recommended that the Commissioner of Transport bo written to. stating that in the opinion of the council t-hc control of taxis.should bo adder the tffilfsporr authority, and asking wliat are the immediate prospects of that being done.
