PARTY AT “RANGATIRA” (Herald Correspondent.) A delightful party was given at “Rangatira” on Friday evening, when Mrs. 11. Stevens entertained a numbei of friends in a- very charming manner. The drawing-room and dining-room, where bridge was played, were gay with flowers, vases of antirrhinums and gaillaidias being in pleasing contrast to large bowls of hydrangea. Supper was served informally in the lounge, a bowl of beautiful gnillardias decorating the table. Mrs. Stevens welcomed her guests, wearing a smartly cut frock of elephant flat crepe in deep blue tones. Among those present were Colonel and Mrs, Dowding, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Haldsworth, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Holdsworth, Mr. and Mrs. R. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Appleton, Mr. and Mrs. R, Brace; Mesdames G. R. Bloomfield, .Tones (Greymouth), and W. Ruddock (Christchurch); Misses .T. Bloomfield, Y. Seamons, and N. Bruce; Messrs. T. Tombleson and J. Holdsworth.
Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Tullock, Miss L. Tullock and Master Oscar Tullock. have returned to their home- at Whatatutu from Morere. having spent a very enjoyable holiday during Christmas week.—Mr. J. Gallie and Miss I. Gallie are the guests of Mrs. L. J. Tullock, at Wha tatutu .—Mrs. H. Price has returned to Te Karaka irojn Auckland, having gone there to meet Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Paine, who arrived from England by the Rangitata, Mrs. Paine is a niece of Mrs. H. Price, and she and her.-,.husband intend to settle in New Zealand.' At present they are taking utM their residence in Te Karaka. —Miss .Una gel'tori is spending her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Sefton, Te Karaka,—Commandant Burgess, Devoupor.fc, is the guest of Mrs. W.
