POLICE “HARRIERS”
RAID ON TWO-UP SCHOOL SUCCESSFUL RUSE Disguised as harriers, two South Australian constables surprised about 30 men, who are alleged to have been playing two-up in a hollow near the River Torrens, on a recent Sunday l afternoon. Wearing running shorts and singlets, the two policemen ran for about half a mile, as if training, before They passed a man standing on a riso near the hollow. When they saw the group of men the “harriers” waved their arms as a signal to throe ear loads of police and several motor-cycle patrols waiting 100 yards away. The men scattered, some wading into the riyer. Eighteen were arrested, after individual chases, some of whioh extended for about half a mil<\ They were charged with illegal gambling.
