Beauty In The Hot Weather
'TIfE smart woman is as cool as she 1 looks, anil it is no fault of tlic beauty parlor if a woman spoils the effect of a cool-1, oolong dress and shady hat by a shiny nose and unsuitable make-up. Many women do not realise that the sun-tan shades of face powder must bn blended with the usual rack el shades round the nose and' the mouth to avoid the darkening that, natural acids of the skin cause when the powder lias boon on the face a little time. A common mistake is to use a lighter, almost oyster powder when the face is red after tennis or bathing or with a white hat. A shade with a good deal of pink in it is much better, as it will give the inatt surface with a rosy glow r beneath, and when a white hat is worn a lfght powder gives a pallid, unhealthy look. The use of lipstick in the very hot weather ought to be entirely abandoned, according to one London specialist in favor, who has a liquid lip tint. All authorities agree that the lips must be powdered after the lip rouge has been applied. At least two shades lighter cosmetic should be used in very strong sunlight, keeping away ffrom a red that has any bluish tinge in it. Because creams and skin foods cannot be used in heat wave weather by any women save those with ultra-dry skins, there is all the m,ore need' to keep the skin clean, or it will never look or bo cool.
