Tennis Tea Party Ideas
LIERE are some suggestions for those who arc giving tennis tea parties. A large fruit, slab cake with lin. of good almond icing on top and no other icing to be cut in lin. thick slices and' then in fingers. One chocolate and one raspberry flavored Madeira sandwich, filled with chopped nuts and cream, but not iced. Serve cut in wedges.
Devonshire splits, ,or small spread with butter or cream,
scones, served
open and accompanied by dishes of home-made jam. Black currant, cherry flavored with rum, rhubarb and' older flower are all delicious, and the last two are uncommon. Walnut bread, buttered and cut into thin slices.
Cucumber and tomato sandwiches. Preserved ginger cake with a thin glace icing. Flirts, that is, biscuits sandwiched with butter or cream and jam.
Great bowls of icy-cold fresh fruit salads, served with blobs ; of ice-cream in each portion. Hot tea and iced coffee, lemon barley-water, fruit punch, plain or with a spoonful of ice-cream.
