A WORLD FIGURE

TRIEUTE TO THE KING

UNIVERSALLY HONORED

LONDON* Dee. 27. The Times, in a loading! article, says

“Although the .King’s message was primarily for his own peoples, His Majesty lias become a great world figure and is universally honored for the simple dignity with which he upholds the best traditions of the monarchy, for his unfiaggmg interest in all affecting Unpeople, and for his anxious labor in the cause of peace among) the nations. “Therefore, it is natural that millions throughout the world gave attention to lus speech, especially in the United States. Moreover, one of the many influences drawing Britons and Americans closer lias been the growing regard of Americans for the King, and also the Royal Family, manifested on the occasion of the Duke of Kent’s marriage. Similar interest is shown in France and elsewhere.”

The voice of His Majesty was heard clearly and distinctly across the world'. “On this Christmas Day,” lie said, “1 send to all my people everywhere a Christmas greeting. Yon who are listening to me, in whatever part of the world you may be, know that all the people ot the Empire are bound to me as one great family.’ The world was still restless and troubled, but the clouds were lifting. The British people still had their own anxieties to meet, but ii they had the spirit of one family they would overcome them.

His Majesty sent greetings to the people of his Dominions overseas, and a special message to the people of India. He wished all his people a happy Christmas and commended them to the Heavenly Father.
